Book summary: How to talk so kids will listen by Faber & Mazlich

So often we think that our children do not listen to us. Usually it’s how we are talking to our children that stops them hearing us.

When I did my Montessori training, it was a huge shift in my thinking. I loved learning about freedom within limits. We can have limits but express them in a way that is kind and clear, rather than through bribes, threats or punishments.

However, putting this idea into practice was difficult at first as I didn’t find so many people raising children who set kind and clear limits with their children.

A friend, who was a teacher, lent me her copy of How To Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen so Kids will talk by Faber & Mazlich and this became my bible. A way to learn how to be a kind and clear guide.
