Hi there everyone! And welcome to 2016. Hoping this year is filled with much health and happiness for you and your families.
I enjoyed a restful break with my family in the lead up to Christmas – making gingerbread houses, a delightful visit to the Nutcracker ballet, and Christmas brunch with friends too.
After Christmas was another matter. Our Montessori classes are moving to a new location from 11 January this year. Which means I have been busy preparing for the move – shopping for a few new things, giving furniture a fresh coat of paint, packing everything up, removing hooks and shelves from the old space, and then this week I’ll get busy in the new space painting, moving things in, and cleaning. Phew.
Where our last space was super spacious and all whites and greys, this space is an an old school building with tall ceilings and lends itself to a cosy feel.
So it’s a good chance to add a different feel to the space. And I thought it would be fun to give you a peek at some of the things that have been inspiring me – a kind of moodboard for the new space.
I’m loving plywood and this box for kids to explore…
There may be a kids size climbing wall in the space inspired by this…
I’m in love with plants, plants and hanging plants to add a modern boho feel…
Using natural materials like this basket…
And I’ve even gone as bohemian as to get a persian-look rug…
There will be some new floor cushions…
And my kids have these Terapy bean bags at home and love them, so I’ve bought a couple of the small size for the new space.
While adding a new feel, I’m also wanting to make sure that the space still feels ordered and not overwhelming for the kids. So I’ll be making sure to sit on the floor and check how everything looks from their height too.
I’ll definitely take some pictures once the space is ready. I can’t wait to see the kids explore this new space. I am completely enjoying putting together a new space for them. And I hope it delights them just as much.
