How to make things nice and cosy, even in a classroom

I’ve been adding a few extra things in my classroom at Jacaranda Tree Montessori over the May holidays.

No, I’ve not been buying new materials. I’ve been adding a few touches to make things feel even cosier and welcoming in the space.

Adding beauty, just for the children.

Arranging plants to add beauty to the space. I’m hoping to keep them alive!

This beautiful print by Marta Abad Blay (a mother who comes to my classes with her daughter!) hung above the flower arranging table. Because artwork should be enjoyed by children too.

I found these hexagonal display boxes at Flying Tiger around the new year. So I’m very happy they are now mounted to add some beauty to the art and craft area.

A quiet space to chill – a hanging mat (available from Ikea!). Pity I’m too big…

And everything in its place – even for the teacher. Some hooks to hang up my apron and adult-sized cleaning things.

These little touches are the things that give the space character, beauty and make it feel so welcoming. It doesn’t have to be expensive, even better if it’s handmade.

So are there some little touches you could add to your place?

Warmest wishes,
Simone
