Festive craft fun
I’ve been running a festive craft workshop at Jacaranda Tree Montessori in Amsterdam for 5 years now. They are always super fun and this was no exception.
I was joined this year by three creative ladies: Kyoko of Kyoko Kinder Kunst Klas, Soona and Emi of Flatto81.
In case you’d like to make some festive craft at home, here is what we set up for the workshop:
1. A snowflake mural
Using tape to make snowflakes, the kids used natural paints to roller an amazing mural together.
2. Weaving a Christmas decoration from upcycled materials
It’s amazing what you can make with these beautiful scraps – new Christmas decorations for the tree!
3. Make a reindeer and a playdough tree
Using pegs and pom poms, simple cardboard is transformed into sweet reindeers. And green tea playdough to make your own tree. Recipe for the dough here.
4. Baking gingerbread cookies
Woops. I was so busy baking with the kids, I forgot to take a photo of the finished product. And we had none left at the end of the day. Recipe here.
5. Making wrapping paper with cork and rollers
More natural dyes + a simple idea of rolling shapes onto paper = beautiful homemade wrapping paper for holiday presents
6. A festive photo booth, a felt Christmas tree, and simple shapes to decorate
And here are some other stations children could visit throughout the session…
You can read more about the event over at Flatto81 in their round up of the event too.
Thanks to everyone who came and joined in our festive afternoon. And a big thank you to our crazy-talented festive crew (and our friend Hiyoko who helped out too).
